Rushden & Higham ladies team debut
Rushden & Higham ladies team debut
Saturday, 28 August 2010
The newly formed ladies team of Rushden & Higham played in their first festival of the season. Wellingborough ladies team invited Rushden’s team over to join them in what can only be described as a fun experience. The team, who were a couple of players short due to holidays and injuries, had 3 matches to play in. The first was against the Wellingborough Under 14s who weren’t quite in their standard strip. Their team consisted of a Nun, a monk, 4 players in full body suits which covered their faces, a lad in a toga and some poor chap wearing a wet suite, snorkel and flippers. Wellingborough lent R&H a couple of ladies to bring up the numbers.
The second match saw the Under 16s in more of a standard attire whilst the final 3rd match was against Wellingborough ladies themselves.
A great amount of fun was had by all and with Wellingborough inviting R&H to camp over the fun went on through into the night with food, disco and a live band as entertainment. I think it can be safely said that this will become an annual event.
